Internationalization

XWiki can be set-up in order to support one or various languages. This can be done in the XWiki Preferences Space (available through the Administration link on the top right of every page). To make use of this feature for Languages with encodings that are not ISO-8859-1, you will need to adjust the encoding for your xwiki setup as documented in the Encodings page of the Administrators Guide

Preferences

You can easily setup and change your XWiki language settings on the Preferences page.

Switch to another language

By default the language displayed will be the one coming from the browser. However on every page you can choose to switch between the different languages translations that exist for the page by clicking on the language name in the top right corner of the screen, as shown on the following screenshots.

The Mandriva Club website, where 25 languages are supported on their XWiki://

Once you click on a language, you're forcing it and thus all pages which have translations in that languages will display these translations by default when you navigate to them.

Edit a translation

When editing a page, a panel indicates which language is currently being edited. You can always check whether you are working on the right page depending on the language you want to write in.

Note that all translations of one page share the same set of xwiki objects. So it is impossible to have different objects (and page tags, which are objects too) in different translations for now, but it is planed in next versions.
